Secom® Healthcare Group Publishes Its Second Sustainability Report, Highlighting Progress and New Sustainable Development Goals

Bucharest, November 28, 2024 – Secom® Healthcare Group, a leading authority on the Romanian food supplements market, has released its second sustainability report, providing a comprehensive overview of its social, economic, and environmental performance for 2022–2023, as well as its future plans. The company has achieved 70% of the 31 objectives set in its first report, reaffirming its commitment to sustainable and responsible growth.

The report“20 Years of Responsible Choices,” was prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) international standards, together with consultants from The CSR Agency. It is the result of a complex process, which included consultations with more than 600 external and internal stakeholders, as well as a detailed evaluation of the company’s activities during 2022–2023.

Key achievements and targets reached in 2022–2023

Responsible choices for a sustainable economy

  • Net sales: over RON 173.3 million (2022) and over RON 178.8 million (2023), continuing a consistent upward trajectory with a 42% CAGR between 2004–2023.
  • Contributions to the state budget: RON 38 million in 2022 and 2023
  • Investments: nearly RON 2 million allocated to the expansion of Secom®’s retail network with six new physical stores
  • Over 95% of suppliers were local, with expenditures of 36% in 2022 and 41% in 2023, reflecting the company’s focus on supporting local businesses.
  • Creation of the “Voice of the Customer” platform (ticketing system) to streamline complaints management and consumer and B2B feedback.
  • Establishment of the Secom Sustainability Committee, comprising all members of the executive team, to promote sustainability principles and ensure the allocation of resources for strategic initiatives.

Responsible choices for a healthy society

  • All partner manufacturers hold international certifications such as ISO, GMP, or NSF, ensuring product quality, safety, and efficacy.
  • Conducting an observational study in partnership with a hospital in Iași that demonstrated the efficacy of Daily-D3 2000 IU from the Good Routine® portfolio — after 90 days of administration, the average 25-OH-vitamin D level increased by 12.19 ng/mL, a 61.57% improvement.
  • Expanding the portfolio to over 600 products — since 2022, the company has also introduced functional foods, personal care products, and natural cosmetics to its retail network to meet consumers’ diverse needs and help them adopt healthy habits.
  • The “Supliment de bine” podcast (formerly “Sănătatea în Focus”) increased its total reach by over 40%, reaching 9.6 million in 2023 and helping educate the public on healthy lifestyles.

Responsible choices for team development

  • The Secom® team grew to 174 employees in 2022 and 181 in 2023.
  • Total salary budget: RON 28.3 million in 2022 and RON 29.3 million in 2023
  • RON 690,000 invested in employee training over 2022–2023.
  • Employee benefits exceeded RON 2.1 million in 2023 — up 21% from 2022.
  • Flexible benefits of RON 600/month per team member, in addition to performance bonuses, medical subscriptions, accident insurance, discounts on company products, psychotherapy sessions, financial incentives for recruiting new team members, loyalty bonuses, and more

Responsible choices for the community

  • Financial, product, and/or volunteer support for 62 organizations (NGOs, hospitals, educational institutions)
  • RON 1.5 million invested in social projects during 2022–2023.
  • Through the “Together in Service of Good” program, Secom® supported 17 social projects focused on two priority SDGs — Health and Well-being, and Quality Education — with 142 team members involved in proposing and implementing the initiatives.

Responsible choices for a clean environment

  • 83% of electricity consumption came from renewable sources in 2023 — nearly double that of 2022
  • 53% of plastic containers used for Good Routine® products in 2023 were made of recycled plastic
  • Since 2023, 44% of Secom®’s locations have been powered exclusively by renewable energy.

Ambitious goals for the future
Secom®’s sustainability journey continues, with 30 new targets across the company’s five sustainability pillars — Ethics for Business Performance, Quality for Health, Development for the Team, Engagement for the Community, and Efficiency for the Environment.
Key goals include: continuing observational studies on Good Routine® products, measuring the company’s Scope 1 and 2 carbon footprint, producing at least 60% of Good Routine® packaging from recycled plastic, increasing renewable energy consumption to 50% of Secom’s premises, investing further in team development and health education initiatives, supporting diversity and inclusion, and directing 20% of income tax toward community sponsorships.
